The real problem

You don't have a technology problem. You have a finishing problem.

US-based engineering

Your prototype is delightful - the vendor's offer is compelling. Six months later, your prototype is glitchy, your platform can't handle a second tenant, and no one is liable for the change. This is not surprising; there is no owner for the system's ongoing health, who can triage monitoring alerts, who can recover lost data, who can manage order fulfillment, or who can implement an ERP system.

We're taking a different approach: We prepared for day one, and we took care of the infrastructure.

Three Problem Classes That We Are Often Called In To Remediate:

Start with a written architecture
assessment, not a sales call

What we do

Four practices. One accountable team.

Most vendors sell you a specialty, and you stitch together the rest of the stack; we operate on the premise that you want one team to handle end-to-end design decisions, from cloud-billing engineering to support desk design.

SaaS Product Engineering

Multi-tenant architecture, subscriptions and licensing, tenant isolation, single sign-on (SSO) and role-based access control (RBAC), usage measurement, and interfaces for your customer support to work with their users.

AI & Applied Machine Learning

LLM applications, self-service document retrieval systems, independent agents, computer vision and assessment, protective barriers, and costs that enable delivery to clients.

Cloud, Data & Reliability

Cloud architecture, migrations, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, data center connectivity, and monitoring that warns you before your customers see a problem.

Digital Experience & Growth

Product design, web and mobile engineering, business platform development and SEO, and demand-generating software to take the product to market.

How we work

How engagements actually run

01
Technical discovery (1-2 weeks)

We are architects, not account managers: we will read your code, reverse-engineer your integrations, and interview pagers. You will receive a written architectural assessment and a business plan, whether or not you select us for implementation.

02
Architecture and planning (2-3 weeks)

Target architecture, migration sequence, risk register, cost model, and a delivery plan with major milestones are all part of this document, which is reviewed and approved by the steering committee.

03
Build in production-shaped increments

2-week development courses with publishable, monitorable, and auditable features. There is no six-month period in which nothing is delivered, followed by a recitation of findings.

04
Harden and hand over

Load-test, fail-test, and safety-review the system, and produce operating instructions and documentation for the engineer who will join your team in 12 months.

05
Run it

The system is operated with a known set of response goals: the team that built the system is either managing it or training your team to do so.

Three ways to work with us

Fixed-scope delivery

Best for

Requirements are clear and the outcome is defined

Commercials

Fixed price, milestone-based

Dedicated engineering pod

Best for

The roadmap is long and priorities change

Commercials

Monthly, per-pod

Managed engineering & support

Best for

The system is live and needs to stay that way

Commercials

Annual, tiered response targets

Security

Built to pass your security review

Suppose your data cannot leave your tenancy, audits require proof, and the information security officer will evaluate the architecture before the CTO signs off. In that case, this is how it's designed, not how it's talked about

The application is deployed into your organization's cloud account and VPC (Virtual Private Cloud) networks as needed

Access to the system is provided on a need-to-know basis, and is subject to examination and a defined retention period.

Why us

Why teams choose us

over a systems integrator or an offshore shop

Three colleagues reviewing a document together

Fifteen years, not fifteen months

We made a production system back in 2011, long before the AI bubble, so our AI work is built on actual engineering, not experimentation on a laptop.

Experienced staff at your workplace

The person you are going to speak with about architecture will be building it with you; no meetings with executives, no inexperienced juniors.

Based in the US, US time

Massachusetts-based organization, local contracting, and overlapping work hours: there was no 11-hour break between your delivery and our installation teams due to construction scheduling risks.

One reliable partner: design, engineering, cloud computing, security, and growth under one contract

Fewer points of failure mean less opportunity for vendors to hide liabilities.

FAQ

Questions procurement asks first

Fixed-scope projects have budgets allocated based on realization of value after problem discovery. Assigned units, on the other hand, are billed monthly per active unit. Managed engineering services are priced per year with response-level segmentation. We will provide a written estimate of the project's scope at the end of the problem discovery phase, before your delivery commitment.

We give a written range for both the needs analysis and the platform build at the end of the discovery phase, sized to the integration's complexity. We provide ballparks for specific pricing rather than "depending on conditions," because your finance team will need precise figures to create forecasts.

A customer discovery effort commences on the start date agreed in the statement of work. Your implementation team will be formed, and work will begin on the day specified in the plan.

Always. We deploy the majority of our enterprise systems within your AWS, Azure, or GCP accounts and Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems so that your data is not routed through our infrastructure.

You do. All of the source code, infrastructure-as-code definitions, business models, constraints, and documentation are transferred to you. There is no obligation to keep using our tooling.

We can install the system under an operations-support contract, or you can acquire it internally; we will handle the accounting and training in either case. Either way, the costs are fully disclosed and locked in at the time of delivery.

Of course. You should know that most of our work is done in collaboration with either our current suppliers or your internal platform teams; we specify interface requirements in the architecture document to ensure transparency for everyone.

Rather than selling you, start with an architectural assessment.

We'll have our engineers look at your systems, the integration procedures, and the constraints within two weeks. After that, they'll give you a written summary of their findings, including recommendations, the true cost of the implementation plan, and what's viable. This is true whether or not you choose to work with us; you will always have the architectural documentation.

Start with an architecture assessment, not a sales call

Two weeks. Our architects review your systems, your integrations, and your constraints, then hand you a written assessment: what's structurally sound, what's a risk, and what a delivery plan would actually cost.

You keep the document whether or not you work with us.

No sales deck. An architect, a whiteboard, and your actual systems.
